Todoist: To-Do List & Tasks App Reviews

By far the best todo I’ve found

Honestly, I just want a simple tasklist that lets me put things in days and syncs across my devices. Many task managers I tried were just too complex and kept urging me to use their advanced features that just complicated the very simple performance I need. One of the nice things about Todoist is that the complexity seems to be there if you want to dig into it – but if you don’t, you can totally disregard it and just have a really clean and effective tasklist. The “Next 7 Days” view really meshes with my workflow so I just keep it on that all the time. The Mac app is good too, I haven’t had any trouble with weird behavior from it and I really prefer having an always-open window than a browser webapp.

Doesn’t work on laptop

I downloaded this to try out on my phone and wanted to use it on my Macbook Pro as well. I downloaded it from the Mac app store but every time I try to log in it says “Bad request, Unknown Error.” It’s basically useless to me at this point. DOn’t bother downloading it unless you only want to be able to sign in on the device you create an account on.

Still a wrapper.

Please build a native mac app already.

Heading in the wrong direction

Todoist was a great app. I was a big fan and happily paid for ‘premium’ account. But, as they move towards attracting ‘business’ users the app is getting more buggy and annoying. Seem the days of todoist being a simple app that ‘just worked’ are gone. The latest version (702) has a number of bugs (for example, on the laptop version, not being able to drag a task from the inbox to a project is a regular event). Don’t get me wrong, its still a resonably good app, but the developers seem to have lost sight of their original vision of simplicity.

Excellent work on this

For me, it has the perfect mix of features and simplicity. I’ve used about every productivity tool on the market, and this is the first one I’ve stuck with for some time and actually use throughout the day. Maybe it’s the Karma system, because I do watch that go up as I complete tasks. The new version is mostly just a design change, and I’m glad. Don’t mess with the functionality too much! It works the way it is.

Wrapper is broken

Sadly, the Mac app, like the windows app, are not a real applications but just a wrapper around the website. Said that, and it’s already not that good, the new version is broken, after opening it, i get an error and i can only rightclick and reload, but still empty main window. basically make the app useless. Please fix the error, and make a real app rather than a wrapper, so won’t suffer issues like this.

GLITCHY

I had the app for about two minutes and could barely get passed the first screen. Incredibly glitchy, could not do a single thing on the app.

Latest update broke it.

I enjoyed using this and liked the redesign, but this latest update makes it completely unusable.

Latest Update is busted

Worked great and loved the app until the latest update broke it. Would have given 4 or 5 starts before this latest update. Hoping for a fix soon, for now, using it via the website :(

completely broken

love the website but the app doesnt work— cant even log in on it

Great Replacement for Reminders

This app is a wonderful productivity upgrade from Apple Reminders, the built-in to do list app for Mac. I’ve already used it extensively in the first couple of weeks since I’ve downloaded it. It’s great for organizing productivity, and one of the most useful features is the ability to share to-do-lists with others. I’ve already been able to delegate tasks and major projects to my coworkers and subordinates and I can see where they’re at with a specific project. Very, very useful. It’s a bummer you have to pay for certain features that would otherwise seem standard, but you gotta make your money somehow, I guess. Definitely worth a download.

The absolute best

I’ve tried dozens of task and simple project management apps. This is hands-down the best I’ve found. Projects or groupings - that can be nested, task tagging and filtering by one or more tags, location-awareness, ranking tasks, history. AND available on an incredible array of platforms. Syncs immediately and consistently — no other app syncs as reliably in my experience.

Don’t update it if you haven’t

Had it working fine, even after others have complained about the problems. But suddenly the window just got frozen and wouldn’t even open. So don’t update it if you haven’t. Please please fix it soon.

…….and its gone...

As others have noted…the new update wont even allow you to log in. Plus the recent them options are really bad. This is the last straw. Sorry.

Perfect

True, this version has a bug, but the application is still the best productivity booster, ever. I do wonder what’s the point of giving a 1-star review if there is a bug. Bugs happen, contact the support if you want it fixed! Destroying an app’s reputation won’t really help your cause… And by the way, if you check the support you’ll find a link to download the fixed version, while waiting for it to be approved by Apple on the store.

Sad but true...

Todoist is great — but I find myself in the same boat as the other reviewers on this version: it’s broken. My copy actually loads… things… but just hyperlinks. Reloading doesn’t fix it. Only the devs can fix it. Let’s hope they do, and soon. In the meanwhile, I’m down to using a Fluid-created replacement, which doesn’t offer anywhere near the system integration of the official Todoist app — only the main interface. But it’s what I’ve got until an update fixes the official app.

App looks like it’s unpolished

Every since i updated the app yesterday, it looks unpolished. It isn’t working properly nor does it look like it was before. I wish there was a way to revert back to the old version.

OS X EL CAPITAN

I am not sure if it is the latest version, or my OS X Beta of El Capitan but it is unresponsive from the get go. I cant even access a login or sign up as a new user.

Unuseable version...

This version is completely unusable……….

Can’t sign in.

Get an error when I try to sign in, and just to make sure I tried to create a new account, but of course it says my email is arleady in the database. Obviously, it’s pretty useless until the fix the Google API login and their own login system. Not even an optoin to recover the password. EDIT: Still no solution in latest update.
